Communications Officers
Salary: £19,345 plus location allowance £1,744, plus shift allowance
Location: Hendon Central Communications Command
As a Communications Officer you will deal with a range of calls, which could involve anything from life-threatening emergencies to reports of suspicious activity. When you answer a call the person you speak to could be in shock, angry, upset, even in danger. You will therefore, need to be emotionally resilient and able to work under pressure. Whatever the call, and whoever the caller, you'll need to be a calm, confident and caring presence at the other end of the line.
You will receive all the training and support you need, but it is essential you are able to learn and retain information, whilst having an aptitude for quick decision-making. It's all about how you relate to people; If you can listen to and engage with people of all ages and backgrounds – and can commit to shift-working in a 24/7 environment - this could be the job for you.
