MoPI Programme Group
Management of Police Information (MoPI) is a national standard for the management of police information. It is about making information relevant and accessible and ensuring that all police operational information is recorded, reviewed, shared and deleted on a consistent basis across the entire Police Service. MoPI was created following the outcome of the Bichard Inquiry into the murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham in 2002. The inquiry revealed a number of ways to improve our information sharing capabilities for policing purposes. The Met's MoPI programme is tasked to ensure compliance with this standard within the Met.
The benefits of MoPI are:
- Enhanced ability to prevent and detect crime.
- Enhanced safety of children and other vulnerable people.
- Improved officer safety.
- Improved coordination with partner agencies.
- Saved police officer time and other efficiency savings.
