To protect over 8.3 million people, we need the best

There is nowhere quite like London. It’s a vast, densely populated urban centre, that’s home to millions of people and scores of languages. Policing a metropolis like this calls for more than dedication. It calls for both excellence and a diverse workforce that’s made up from all of London’s communities, so we really understand the boroughs we serve at ground level.

We’re recruiting experienced Police Constables and Detective Constables who work to the highest standards and who are capable of working across a variety of cultures and communities. Police Constables will be based in a Neighbourhood or Response team; and as we have a number of opportunities across London, we’ll work to place you in a borough that’s suitable for our needs and yours. Detective Constables will also be borough-based. We also have vacancies in specialist areas – please visit our website to find out more information on these. Whatever your role, there will always be new ways to stretch your skills and expertise, as well as great rewards and a huge range of potential career paths.

Metropolitan police officers receive London Weighting on top of the national pay scales. They are also eligible for subsidised rail travel. In short, the opportunities and the rewards are here. It’s up to you to take them. Applications are welcomed from experienced constables currently serving in Home Office Forces, in England and Wales, and officers from British Transport Police.
