Pay & benefits

In keeping with everyone employed by the MPS, PCSOs receive a generous package of basic pay plus a full range of benefits. This is the case whether you work full-time, part-time or as part of a job share.

Pay

Your precise salary will depend on a variety of factors. However the basic structure is quite straightforward:

  • Basic salary ranges from £20,369 to £23,412
  • You may be entitled to an additional shift disturbance allowance of 12.5%, 15% or 20%, depending on your shift pattern
  • You will also receive a location allowance depending on which of our two zones you work in. This is currently £3,379 (inner zone) or £1,836 (outer zone).

You can indicate a preference to work part-time, as part of a job share, or only during certain times of the year and receive pro-rata payment. This is subject to local agreement in accordance with the MPS's 24/7 service to Londoners.

Leave

As a PCSO you will receive 28 days paid leave a year, including public holidays on joining. You will be compensated if you have to work on a public holiday.

You will also have access to a range of other benefits, including:

  • Metropolitan Police Civil Staff Pension Scheme
  • Sports and social club and facilities
  • Competitively-priced staff restaurants
