PCSO

Selection process

There is currently a pause in PCSO recruitment. Please check this site regularly for details of when we will be recruiting in the future.

If you have a disability e.g. a specific learning difficulty, reasonable adjustments will be considered for the selection process. You will be advised of the procedure at the relevant stage.

Step 1: Complete an Application Pack

Unfortunately the MPS is not currently recruiting PCSOs. Please check this website regularly for updates.

Step 2: Selection Centre

If your application passes an initial assessment you will be invited to our Selection Centre in Hendon to undertake the Day 1 of the selection process, which will involve two written tests, structured interview and two interactive role plays. Your performance will be measured against the set of skills identified as necessary for the role of PCSO.

If you are successful at the Day 1 stage you will be invited to attend a Day 2 at the Selection Centre, which will involve a medical assessment and Job Related Fitness Test. The medical assessment is conducted by a registered nurse and will check various aspects of your health, including eyesight and hearing.

For full details on the medical requirements and the MPS fitness test please download the Fit for the Job document

Step 3: Health, Security & References check

If you perform well at the selection centre you will be recommended for appointment subject to satisfactory checks on security status and references.

In addition to the above, you will be required to undertake a Substance Misuse Test during the recruitment process.

Thank you very much for your interest in applying to the Metropolitan Police Service. If you have any further recruitment queries, please do not hesitate to contact the Recruitment Helpline on 0845 727 2212 Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.
