Forensic Scientist
Salary: £27,730 to £40,073 plus £3,379 location allowance
Location: London SE17
As the UK’s largest police service, we can offer forensic scientists a fast-paced environment and the chance to develop their skills working for the Evidence Recovery Unit on major and specialist crime scene investigations across the capital.
You’ll be responsible for examining crime scenes to recover and interpret evidence, and working in the laboratory to process and manage major crime cases in close liaison with investigating officers.
Ideally, you’ll have a relevant science degree or equivalent, along with experience of attending crime scenes and conducting laboratory-based examinations. The ability to interpret body fluid evidence and retrieve and sample exhibits for DNA analysis and/ or the ability to enhance, recover and compare shoemarks will be essential. Experience of giving court evidence in written and oral form, and reporting on casework from major crimes is also required. You should also be able to influence new ways of working and develop junior staff.
You will also need a full driving licence.
