Recruitment Process

Step 1: Complete an application pack
You can now apply to be a Special by completing our online application form.

Step 2: Selection centre
If your application passes an initial assessment, you will be invited to our selection centre at Hendon to undertake a Day 1 of the selection process. This will involve a written test and an interview to examine your core competencies to become a Special.
Your invite to the Day 1 Assessment will be emailed to the address provided in your application form. Some email accounts put these emails into the Junk/Spam items folder, please check these folders to ensure your invitation is not missed.
We will send you a security questionnaire with your invitation to attend your selection event. You must complete this and bring it with you on your selection day.
If you are successful at your Day 1 stage, you will be invited to attend a Day 2 at the selection centre. This will involve a Job Related Fitness Test* and a medical assessment which includes both an eye test and a hearing test.
* You will be required to bring suitable attire such as tracksuit, shorts, trainers etc. Changing rooms and shower facilities are available. We hold a familiarisation session at Hendon every Tuesday between 09:30 and 10:30am - call 020 8358 1211 to book your place. If you possess average fitness levels there is no need to attend.

Step 3: Security & references check
On passing all phases of the selection event you will be ready for training, subject to security clearance and reference checks with your current or previous employer.
